Ready to Start Something New?

Happy Wednesday my friend!

This morning I was interviewed for a midlife summit, and we were talking about things that hold us back in midlife.

I actually think these things can hold us back no matter where we are in life, so I wanted to share a couple tips with you too.

If you have a feeling something just isn’t right, maybe now is the time to take a look at what might be causing you to pause.

If you love things fun and exciting all the time, your fears could be:

  • Boredom
  • Difficult relationships
  • Not being liked
  • Too much drudgery

If this sounds familiar, you might want to try:

  • Take action, don’t just dream about it.
  • Add some fun to what you’re already doing.
  • Look to experts to help you with the areas where you struggle.

These behaviors can get you moving forward towards something better.

If you love perfection and everything being planned out, your fears could be:

  • Not enough resources
  • No time to plan properly
  • Not enough details

If these sound familiar, you might want to try:

  • Setting deadlines for decisions and completing research
  • Include close friends in your decision making
  • Look for ways to contribute — even imperfectly

It’s by taking these small and effective actions you’ll be able to move forward.

If you love being in control, in full motion, and achieving everything you’re capable of, your fears could be:

  • Losing control
  • Uselessness
  • Invisibility
  • Loss of meaning

These fears can really sabotage your efforts, so you might want to try:

  • Re-evaluate your current efforts
  • Recommit to your relationships – they are maybe even more important than your work
  • Remember it’s the journey, not just the destination
  • Find ways to share your expertise

These behaviors will definitely get you moving on the right track.

And finally,

If you find yourself seeking peace at any price, wanting a conflict-free environment, and procrastinating in many areas, you might fear:

  • Too much pressure and conflict
  • Too many expectations
  • Lack of opportunity for relaxation

So the best way to avert these is to:

  • Explore your desires, what do you really love?
  • Stop procrastinating…rarely is it as bad as you imagine
  • Look for opportunities to collaborate with others

These simple moves can really help you on your way.

I hope this simple discussion will help you as you seek to live your best life.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out, because, as always, I’m

Cheering you on!
