What’s on Your About Page?

What’s on Your About Page?

Happy Wednesday my friend,

I’ve spent the morning working on my Amazon Author page, refining the book description and all the tags and stuff that goes on when your book goes up on Amazon.

Normally the publisher would take care of all this behind-the-scenes stuff. And since I’m self-publishing, that means I’m the one doing all that! 🙂

Thankfully, I found a person to help me with the formatting, etc., but ultimately, I’m the one who writes all the content and that includes all the marketing stuff.

I tell you this because as I was working on my “About the author” page, I was reviewing the pages of other authors I love. I’m an avid reader, so there are quite a few writers I follow and enjoy, so I thought I would take a look at how they did their pages.

(They all have expensive publicists and marketing people who do this stuff, so I was hoping to gain some best practices ideas to use myself!)

What actually happened surprised me.

I got caught up in comparison and it stole all my excitement and joy right from me!

Because I don’t have…

Well, you fill in the blanks.

All the things I don’t have suddenly became way more important than what I do have.

And I found myself wanting to head for the kitchen…(being honest here)…

But instead, I got back to my own page. And I remembered why I wrote the book in the first place. And I refocused on my future readers and what they need.

Suddenly, what I didn’t have became a lot less important and I was able to fill in what I did bring to the table for my readers.

If this story sounds familiar, it probably is.

Because comparison is the thief of joy and we have all been its victim at one time or another.

So today, if you are struggling because everyone else has started their New Year’s Resolutions and you’re still trying to write yours down….

Or everyone else is … (You go ahead and fill in your blanks)…

Because I know if you will just forget about them and focus instead on what you are supposed to be doing, your joy will return and you will be happier.

Hoping this encourages you some today, because, as usual, I’m here,

Cheering you on,

Christy 🙂

P.S. Dink Positive Books: A Pickleball Devotional really is almost finished, and should be up on Amazon by this time next week. I’ll order a sample book to make sure the printed version looks ok, but I’m guessing by 2 weeks from today you’ll be able to order your own copy!! Yippee!!
