Action Over Fear

Action Over Fear

This morning in my devotional I read this passage from Esther 4:14:

“…And who knows if you have come to this position for such a time as this?”

Queen Esther was put into a really bad position. Her husband (the King) did not know she was Jewish. He had been talked into killing all the Jews by a devious courtier. That meant she and her family were more than likely to be killed too…if she didn’t say something.

Yikes! What a situation. If she went before the King without him asking for her, there was a high possibility she could be killed just for approaching him. Talk about high stakes!

Talk about being afraid to say/do something!

Thankfully, she gathered her people around her, they fasted and prayed for 3 days, and then she approached the King….and…

Well, it all ended well. Read the Book of Esther for all the details (only 10 short, fascinating chapters.)

For the point of our discussion today, I want to consider Esther’s Uncle Mordecai’s words to her, (above) and the connection to our lives here today in 2023.

Sometimes in our life, we find ourselves in a difficult position. Could be a family issue, work challenge, or physical problem.

And that’s when we get to decide how to think about it.

Will we choose to be a victim, and remain powerless, or will we muster our courage, assemble our supporters, and do that which we are called to do?

For example, you find yourself dealing with unexpected work challenges. Your workmates are making it difficult for you and you see things happening that should not be happening.

Do you look the other way and pretend nothing is going on?

Or do you step out in faith and do the right thing you know to do?

We all have our own situations each and every day. Choices we can make to move forward in the right direction.

Doing what God has called us to do.

It may be uncomfortable. It may be scary. It may seem overwhelming.

But I assure you your life is no accident. You were put here for exactly what is going on now.

God is with you. You are not alone. And trusting Him, adjusting your thinking to work for you (what’s possible!), and then acting on what you know to be true, is exactly the right move.

So take courage dear one! Amazing things are on the other side if we will just take action to lean into what we know we are here to do.

And who knows, if maybe YOU were put exactly here for such a time as this?

Love you and cheering you on!

Christy 🙂
